This World Environment Day 2023, we are celebrating the progress made since we launched our ‘Be More sustainable’ edit on boots.com two years ago, helping more customers to easily shop with sustainability in mind with a curated edit of products with one or more of the following attributes: plastic-free, recycled, re-usable, vegan and cruelty free.
Sustainability is an important shopping criterion for many, with the sustainable edit seeing an increase of 37% more visits year on year. The five-category edit offers over 1,000 environmentally friendly beauty and everyday bathroom sustainable swaps with prices starting from just £1, including Boots’ cotton wool range which has been replaced with a 100% GOTs Certified organic alternative, and bio-degradable, plastic free wipes, at no extra cost to customers.
Natalie Gourlay, Head of ESG at Boots UK, said: “At Boots, we believe that a healthy community needs a healthy planet. We strive to help our customers to make decisions that are informed, and the five category Boots Be More Edit helps them to make their decisions with ease. We’re always looking for more sustainable product options and ways of reducing our impact on the planet and together with our customers, we hope to inspire positive action and encourage little swaps that make a big difference.”
Boots has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to operating as a socially responsible business and reducing the impact on the environment for over 170 years, however providing sustainable beauty options isn’t the only way Boots is helping customers do their bit for the planet.
The Recycle at Boots scheme which launched in 2021, encourages customers to bring back their empty, hard-to-recycle health, beauty and wellness products, in return for a reward. Simply by recycling five hard-to-dispose of beauty products such as mascaras and lipstick tubes, whilst spending £10 in a participating store, they receive 500 Advantage Card points, worth £5.
So far, customers have recycled over 1.5 million products through the scheme equating to 54 metric tons of plastic.
The Be More sustainable edit is a permanent feature which can be found on www.boots.com/sustainable-living.
